Manganaro’s Heroboy

Manganaro’s Heroboy has been one of my favorite lunch spots when working nearby Penn Station.  I love the buffet style service; and love all the funny men behind the counter.

LOVE the Mozzerella Risotto Ball and Chicken Parmagiana for lunch, as pictured ~ The sauce is also so so good with the bread ~ YUM YUM YUM

The big and open dining space also provides natural lighting and great office for me to do some phone calls.

Warning: food coma does take effect after this lunch in the very nearby future.

Kyotofu - one fabulous dessert bar

I think it was either Moonhee or Susanna who treat me the mini chocolate and green tea cakes (I LOVE my foodie friends!!!!!)  SO YUMMY!   I am addicted to the chocolate sufflé cupcake - it tastes like the chocolate cake I love in Taiwan but with a stronger chocolate flavor.

Linda and I went for a quiet afternoon dessert pampering session (see pic 2) - 5 desserts tasting course for $17 plus tea. YUM YUM YUM - love the Black Sesame Macaron, Pumpkin Cheesecake, Signature Sweet Tofu (my favorite), Rice Pudding with Poached Pear, Chocolate Truffle Cake.

Sullivan Street Bakery

Sullivan Street Bakery has been Moonhee’s favorite spot; and she kept asking me to check it out whenever I am nearby.  I am in Hell’s Kitchen a lot, and finally walked in on a beautiful sunny chilly winter day.

Picked up few treats to share with Moonhee and Dan - LOVED the donuts with vanilla cream and the pastry with seaonal fruits (sorry, I did not remember their Italian names and the staff would not let me take a picture …)  YUM YUM YUM … everything tastes so fresh and light!

Would love to go back for their pizzas and try their breads ~  Call me if you have time to meet up there!!!

Amy’s Bread

I had a lousy lunch at a beautiful sunny day; so I decided to walk off the bad lunch and see what I could find.  I was in Hell’s Kitchen; one of my favorite food neighborhood.

Walking up 9th Avenue from West 42nd Street, I was stopped by the wonderful smell and the cutie door front of Amy’s Bread.  I went in; and told the smiling face that I was not satisfied with a bad lunch and was looking for something good.  The super friendly staff strongly recommended his favorite item, fig + hazelnut whole wheat scone, to me.  Oh my goodness ~ that was heavenly!!!   Amy’s Bread  has been known for artisan breads … but that scone … can’t wait to go back and try more

Amy’s Bread - 3 locations:

Hell’s Kitchen (my favorite) — 672 Ninth Avenue (between 46th & 47th Streets)

Chelsea Market - 75 Ninth Avenue (Between 15th & 16th Streets)

This is a little cozy rest stop whenever I am in Hell’s Kitchen / Clinton area.  Once you get in, it’s hard to get out.  The store offers so many unique gifts that are not expensive.

A good spot in Hells Kitchen

This is a good spot in Hells Kitchen to meet up for brunch, lunch, or drinks (have not tried dinner).

HK Restaurant offers my favorite Voss sparkling water, friendly staffs, good fries, good pasta (I like the rigatoni with spicy Italian sausage), and clean bathroom.  This place is packed on Sundays when the Hell Kitchen Flea Market is open right on West 39th Street; and offers outdoor seating when the weather is warm.

My Favorite Cupcakes

This is my favorite cupcakes ~ they are not too sweet and they are pretty (ok, ok, I am a girl after all.)

My favorite flavor is chocolate with mocha butter cream, the small ones with yellow or orange flowers on.
