Sip Sak

Pronounced “Ship Shak”, a Turkish restaurant.

I love their lamb burger, thanks to Syndi Lin who suggested that we went there for brunch on the freezing cold NYC November. OMG yummy burger. It’s perfectly spiced and perfectly grilled. And to be honest, I have trouble ordering other food items when I visit Sip Sak. p.s. Desserts are mostly homemade!!!

Check it out:

Mantao Chinese Sandwich

by pollychang » click here for full post

I had little time yesterday to have dinner. To be exact, 15 minutes.

Walked by this Mantao Chinese Sandwich places so many times … then again last night.
It’s a sign that I should give it a try.
Ordered Spicy Pork + Fresh Watermelon Juice (in pic)
Wow
Wow
Wow
SOOOOOOO GOOD!
The sandwich bread was like a Chinese bun (called Mantao) with sesame seeds.
The pork was juicy and tender and spicy.

YUM YUM

I LOVE burgers, juicy ones with good fries on the side.

brgr is another good place with good burger that’s not too big; the sweet potato fries and fried crispy onions are yummy to go on the side.

It has been a cold cold winter. This little heart inside my cappuccino always gives me a smile then warm me up from my palm.

I fell in love with Joe The Art of Coffee few years ago at the Waverly Place location.
So happy now they have quite a few locatons all over town to warm me up.

Alice Tea Cup

Yes Yes, this picture is another result of eating happily - eating fast - forgot to take picture first Polly incident when she sees food. LOL

Besides their fabulous scones, I love going to Alice Tea Cup for breakfast on weekdays.  It is very quiet, very cozy, and not crowded.  You feel being pampered sitting in any of their location on a morning … time slows down too …

I love Mauritias (black tea with a hint of vanilla that goes so amazingly well with cream) to go with any breakfast items.  My favorite scones are the buttermilk or ham and cheese scones.

Dylan’s Candy Bar

by pollychang » click here for full post

I did not think I would like this place.  I thought, “it was just candies”.  My goodness, how wrong was I!!!

It was Marietta’s birthday, and she really wants to have fun hot chocolate.  Off we go ~ she had Party Hot Chocolate; and I had Classic Frozen Hot Chocolate.  Together, we shared a Rasberry Swirled Cup Cake from Crumb’s.  Then, we spent 2 hours shopping ~ shopping for candies and touching and looking at everything candy-related, such as cashmere sweater, beauty products, umbrellas, and everything. I mean, everything!!!

Dylan’s Candy Bar brought us back to childhood ~ we were like 2 little girls and had the best time ever~!

Kunjip Restaurant — My Favorite Korean Food Spot

by pollychang » click here for full post

After eating up and down East 32nd Street, the famous K-Town (Korean Town), it seems that I always love to go back to Kunjip Restaurant! Had so many wonderful meals with so many friends - Moonhee, the Perlmans, Hyunsoo, and many more …

My favorite dish is actually the sides they offer - there are plenty more than the ones shown in the picture. And out of all side dishes, I love that steamed egg custard; it tastes like how my mom makes it. And I love their BBQ, their seafood casseroles; even the basics are yummy - Japche (stir fried noodles with seafood or beef) and Bibimbob (rice in the heated pot with vegetables and/or seafood). The list goes on and on. Drooling now as I am writing …

Chiyoda Sushi NYC

Another favorite lunch spot - Chiyoda Sushi NYC! These Japanese lunch options are tasty and good budget for midtown lunch. The place offers sushi, Japanese bento boxes, side dishes, hot tempuras, Japanese Fried Chicken, Japanese potato salad, Seaweed. There are few small tables and bar area you can pick up a quick lunch and sit down by yourself. Or you can also wait on the long lunch line to sit in the back room with a friend.

I often buy few items to take back to the office or eat on the run; love the rice ball with vegetables and fava beans, potato salad, Japanese fried chicken, or veggie tampura. YUM!

Cafe Zaiya offers great lunch selections: fresh bakery, freshly mixed salads, hot American dishes, Japanese bento boxes, rice rolls, Japanese breads and sandwiches, and yummy freshly baked cream puffs and various desserts.

I love any dessert with green tea + red beans  :)    The desserts in Cafe Zaiya changes all the times.  I found this green tea pudding with red beans sweet topping.  YUMMY!  Good energizing food!

Cafe Zest

Cafe Zest is my new favorite spot.  It’s close to many of rental properties I take care of in Midtown East by Grand Central.

Cafe Zest makes fresh food on site daily - various Japanese lunch boxes or side snacks; the breads are also freshly baked on site.  It’s great walking through the door to smell freshly made food.

Also love the little seating area in the back with open sky light (you can also receive clear cell phone and Blackberry reception); there is also a clean bathroom …

A really good find; next to Dan’s favorite golf store   :)

Korean Tofu Stew - what a winter treat!

by pollychang » click here for full post

Robin took me to Seoul Garden; we had a great dinner sharing tofu stew, seafood pancake, and beef short ribs. It was a chilly day; everything was perfect. Many other perfect and cozy meals I share at this restaurant with good friends over great conversations.

Peking Duck anyone?

by pollychang » click here for full post

Thank you, Sharon, for suggesting an amazing meal ~

It was such a wonderful evening at Shun Lee Palace East (the Peking Duck is much better than the one by Lincoln Center).

5 of us shared:

- Peking Duck (not greasy, meating, crispy)

- Lion’s Heads (A typical family style dish. Tender chopped lean pork shaped like a lion’s head; slowly cooked for one hour in a casserole, and served with Chinese cabbage)

- Ants Climb on Tree (Fine minced of filet stir-fry with cellophane noodles in spicy garlic sauce garnish with greens)

- Dried Sauté String Beans (Fresh string beans sautéed with minced garlic pickle)

- Neptune’s Net (Fresh lobster chunks, sliced shrimp, scallops, and sea bass fillet all sautéed together in a tasty wine sauce. Served in a potato basket)

Stop drooling, call me and few other friends, let’s go there for dinner!!!  What a treat!
