Taste Good

It was a very tasty meal at this Taste Good restaurant.

This restaurant offers the most tasty authentic Maylaysian cuisine; this is sweared by the people (7 of them) who took us there.

We had some special dishes that were special ordered.  But few I’ve never tried and fell in love with - Rojak (assorted fuits and veggie salad tossed with homemade spicy shrimp paste topped with grated peanut and crispy shrimp crackers).  The chicken Satay was juicy and melted in the mouth.  Sizzling Bean Curd has this delicious sauce to accompany the homemade tofu (made a premise daily!!!).  And I love love the way they cook Kangkung Belacan (green veggie with spicy Malaysian shrimp paste sauce).

Friends told me that there are the Laksa (house specialty: curry noodles with stuffed bean curd) that I must try.  And we found out it was only 35 minutes subway ride from Elmhurst to Upper West Side!!!  Can’t wait to eat there again soon!!!

Taiwanese dishes, anyone?

I am truly sorry to show a picture of the menu.

But the food was SOOOOOO good, we finished that amazing lunch before I thought of taking pictures of all the wonderful dishes!!!  Sorry …

Ok, now the story goes …

Dan and I came back from Buenos Aires on Friday; landing 6 am; went to work; rented a car to pick up KoKo from my mom’s house on Long Island.

Saturday morning, we decided to go Chinese grocery shopping and explore Elmhurst, Queens; that was supposed to be another big Chinese community.  Woke up at 10 am, off we go.  Drove around the main street (Broadway), Dan spotted this restaurant - the only restaurant featuring Taiwanese Specialties.

We ordered:  Flavored Steamed Sticky Rice in Bamboo, Meatball Soup, Pork Chop Over Rice, Braised Pork Over Rice, and a huge plate of Chinese Water Crest with Garlic.

OH MY GOD, it was out of the world GOOD!

Taiwanese Specialties, 11 am - 2 am, 718.429.4818 + 718.205.5776, 84-02 Broadway, Elmhurst, Queens with parking in the back off St. James.

Favorite Chinese Bakery

Have you visited TaiPan Bakery in Chinatown?

It’s a mad place anytime of the day.  You do get run over from time to time  :P   The variety of breads taste the closest to home (Taipei, Taiwan) as I remembered.  Anything from here always tastes fresh ~ Dan loves the traditional flaky egg custards; I love the egg custards in Portugese style, and many of the breads.

Lately, I do find more and more non-Asian faces shopping here.  SO good that TaiPan Bakery has been discovered!
