Popbar

“Handcrafted Gelato on a Stick” is their website description. All I can say was YUM YUM (why else would they be on this blog?) !!!

My favorite gelato is melon. And Popbar made it to perfection.
Popbar made this busy real estate broker the happiest person on a 95 degree running around day.

Pop-Bar. 5 Carmine Street (off 6th Ave curved corner).

Ciao for Now

Thank you, Eleanor, for introducing me for my new favorite coffee spot, Ciao for Now.

Love this little place that tucks off the busy 6th Avenue that offers great baked goods and amazing coffee. It’s simple, and little, and quiet.

Cafe Asean

This is my new love for lunch spot. Thank you Jarret!

Their food is Southeast Asian food.  Everything is SOOO yummy!  The 2 dishes in the pictures are my current favorites:  Bee Hoon - Singaporean fried rice noodles with shrimp, Chinese sausage and vegetables + Heo Nuong — Grilled pork chop marinated with lemongrass and honey.

Come and meet me there for lunch or dinner ~ love this little casual place anytime ~

Joe - The Art Of Coffee

It has been a cold cold winter. This little heart inside my cappuccino always gives me a smile then warm me up from my palm.

I fell in love with Joe The Art of Coffee few years ago at the Waverly Place location.
So happy now they have quite a few locatons all over town to warm me up.

Elettaria - a very yummy and interesting fusion, finally!

Elettaria, that little red (front) door opened up to such a yummy evening! Bea and Jill walked by and reserved our table with the really nice hostess. The place is not big; but you don’t smell like food from the open kitchen. The open kitchen makes you want to stay and watch how they come up with such beautiful and tasty dishes.

Our appetizers were calamari salad and pork ribs (in picture); the salad was chilled and refreshing; the meat on the prok ribs were tender and tasty.  There is a hint of some type of Indian spices in all dishes; it was such a refreshing taste after tasting too many fusion restaurants with bukchoy with French red wine sauce.  Out of 4 entrées, we all love the Dosa Crepe (Feuilles de Brick, Cumin, Cauliflower; in picture).  The dessert was SO GOOD - Pineapple Upside Down Cake with Allspice and Coconut Gelato.

I’ll be happy to eat there any day again!  Thank you, Bea and Jill for finding the place!

Amy’s Bread

I had a lousy lunch at a beautiful sunny day; so I decided to walk off the bad lunch and see what I could find.  I was in Hell’s Kitchen; one of my favorite food neighborhood.

Walking up 9th Avenue from West 42nd Street, I was stopped by the wonderful smell and the cutie door front of Amy’s Bread.  I went in; and told the smiling face that I was not satisfied with a bad lunch and was looking for something good.  The super friendly staff strongly recommended his favorite item, fig + hazelnut whole wheat scone, to me.  Oh my goodness ~ that was heavenly!!!   Amy’s Bread  has been known for artisan breads … but that scone … can’t wait to go back and try more

Amy’s Bread - 3 locations:

Hell’s Kitchen (my favorite) — 672 Ninth Avenue (between 46th & 47th Streets)

Chelsea Market - 75 Ninth Avenue (Between 15th & 16th Streets)

The Village - 250 Bleecker Street at Leroy Street

Good and Cheap lunch spot ~

I have been working a lot in Greenwich Village since 2007; and found Cafetasia as a great and cheap lunch spot near NYU / Washington Square Park.

The lunch combo (1 appetizer + 1 entry) = $7.95!!!  (Plus clean bathroom; however, service is so-so).

Summer time, I love a Thai iced tea (extra $1) + whatever appetizer that looks good + Pad Thai. Went in couple weeks ago, and decided to try something new.  In picture, it is the Crispy Fillet Of Flounder with button mushroom, scallion, bellpepper, ginger, garlic - mushroom sauce.  WOW, YUM!

Peanut Butter

I like peanut better.  But never tried anything with this combination - peanut butter (smooth) + banana + bacon - that was Elvis’ favorite.  So Sandra and I tried it the first time 4 years ago during her first visit.  It was so good that it’s the only place she insisted on visiting again.  Off we went, and it was yummy as we remembered!

The first meal that got my appetite back!

When I represented multiple sellers in 69 West 9th Street in 2007, I ate by BLT Burger at least every 3 weeks if not more often.  I was there often alone … loved sitting by the bar and had many great conversations with buddy eaters.  Or enjoyed my private booth and quietly pigged out ~

Something upsetting happening over the weekend, I lost my appetite.  Those of you who know me know how serious this is.  I could eat no more than 2 bites each meal … Dan was getting worried.

This morning (Sunday), I started working at 10 AM (in the office with paperwork and preparation); hosted open house on Upper West Side from 12 - 1 pm; went to do a presentation for potential seller on Upper East Side; then went to Greenwich Village to show 6 rental apartments.

6 pm came, I realized how exhausted and tired I was; and I was HUNGRY!!!  There it was, BLT Burger, calling my name.  I finished the whole Classic Burger - medium well (with everything but no cheese), almost all waffle fries, and root beer.  The juicy burger relaxed me and told me that I made it through another tough round  :)

Butter

It was a simply fabulous meal that we’ll never forget.

To celebrate Moonhee’s birthday, we booked Butter.  The hostess was sweet and accommodating our much earlier arrival.  She sat the two of us down in the booth.  The waitress was fabulous, Gianna; it seems that she knew what we like to eat.  The food was flavorful ~ you can taste all the fresh ingridients and the new flavor created by the ingridients.  The fish entrees (salmon in champane cream sauce and brazino with vegetables and crunchy anchovy toppings) were just amazing!

Drooling …

The carrot cake was the best we’ve ever had ~ What a meal!!!  Can’t wait to go back to try the autumn menu that is 2 weeks new.
