Bar Boulud

I’ve been at Bar Boulud for lunch or meeting people for after work drink (yeah yeah, mine was non-alcoholic).  It was good but nothing impressive.

However, Dan and I decided to go for Saturday lunch one day.  And it turned out the best time ever.  Bar Boulud is known for all these amazing paté; so we had a small board of Degustation de Charcuterie (see pic).  Every single one was tasty!!!  Then Dan had this amazing Cuisse De Canard L’oeuf Mollet (duck hash) (see pic).  It was the perfect lunch for Sunday.

I really enjoy all Daniel Boulud’s eateries all over Manhattan; never a disappointment.  He’s very sweet in person as well.

Charm Thai

No Offense to other Thai restaurants on Upper West Side, but they are really off.
When I firs tried Charm Thai, I had no expectation.
But their Tofu Pai Thai won over my heart immediately!!!

In pictures, there are the super spicy Green Papaya Salad and my favorite Tofu Pai Thai.

Matzo Ball Soup

Yes Yes, I am not Jew.

Though I do think I am half Jew after living in NYC for 13 years; and my grandparents were born in Shanghai.

This, is my favorite Matzo Ball Soup.

I actually have not found other items I like to eat from Skylight Diner huge menu; but I go in at least once or twice a year in chilly weather days to sit on the bar and enjoy Matzo Ball Soup.

Your turn to try, and let me know what you think?

El Faro - Spanish Tapas

by pollychang » click here for full post

El Faro
was the first Spanish Tapas in Manhattan.  The place is cozy with many frequent customers who chat up with the staffs.  The wait staffs reminded me of the ones I love in Spain ~ and their food …

My two favorite tapas are in the pictures - salt cod corquette and shrimp in green sauce.  These two are very authentic (I had them in Spain numerous times) and just YUMMY!    However, I am not impressed with their Paella … bummer ~

Hill Country BBQ

I have been wanting to try Hill Country for a long time.  No one would go with me  :(  Finally, Susanna and I decided to be spontaneous one night and just went.  YEAH!

The Texas style decor reminded me of my days in Texas.  LOVE it how causal it is and LOVE it that they serve BBQ with couple pieces of white bread.  I got Jalapeno and Cheese sausage (made in Texas) and the Brisket Moist (pork fat fules!) with Green Bean Casserole with Fried Onions (so much better than my own …) and Mac and Cheese.  YUM YUM YUM … with Texas style lemonade in big glass jug.  Of course I never made it to dessert and walked from the restaurant all the way down to West Village to digest …
